Important Information about the Ski Team
Hey Future Ski Legends and Families!
STOKED doesn’t even begin to cover it – we’re absolutely pumped that you’re joining the Canby Ski Team! Whether you’re linking your very first turns, chasing pow stashes, or dreaming of podium finishes, this crew is all about progression, good vibes, and making memories that’ll last way past spring thaw.
Here’s the quick scoop so you can hit the ground (or snow) running:
What You Need to Join the Party
• Be passing at least 4 classes (keep those grades happy!)
• Current physical on file with the school – easy peasy!
Fees – Let’s Keep It Simple
• $150 ASB fee (pay at the school office)
• Grab your own All-Access or Value Mt. Hood Meadows season pass (the golden ticket to unlimited laps!)
Practice = Thursday Night Lights on Snow!
We kick things off in January and go hard every Thursday after school. Bus loads right when the bell rings and we roll straight to Meadows for epic night sessions under the lights. The coaches are ready, the snow is waiting, and we’re leveling up together. Training switches with conditions and the stoke – gates, park laps, pow surfing… whatever the mountain gives us, we’re ripping as a crew!
Gear Up
Toss your skis, boots, poles, and all the goodies in the multipurpose room before school – we’ll keep everything safe until the bus rolls.
That’s it! Short, sweet, and all about having the absolute best winter ever.
Any questions? Hit up the coaches anytime – we’re here for you.
Now let’s go make some turns, eat some snow (it happens), and have the most fun season yet!
See you on the hill in January – it’s gonna be LEGENDARY!
Go Cougars!!

Participation Requirements
Each member of the Canby High School Snowboard Team must be passing 4 classes to maintain eligibility. Also, remember that your grades from this spring term determine eligibility for next fall term. Students must also have a physical exam completed to be on the snowboard team.
Team Fees
$500— This fee includes transportation, Three Rivers League dues, OISA dues, uniforms, team functions, and any other costs that are incurred during the 25/26 season. You will also need to pay the $150 ASB Fee to the school. Each team member will need to purchase an All-Access Mt Hood Meadows Season Pass.
Varsity Letters
Every student has the possibility to earn a Varsity Letter. There are just a few simple requirements:
• Attend at least 75% of practices
• Participate in 75% of competitions
• Maintain a good attitude
• Follow the rules of the team
• Exceptions may be made for seniors and riders who go above and beyond for the team.
Practice
Practices are held at Mt Hood Meadows and will typically be on Thursday evenings unless otherwise stated. The bus will be departing for the mountain directly after school. Each member of the Canby snowboard team is required to follow school rules while practicing. Also, students are required to maintain good sportsmanship and a positive attitude. Training will occur on different terrain depending on what facilities look best and what our next competition is.
Competitions
Competitions are primarily held on weekends. Team members will compete in four different disciplines:
Slopestyle- This type of competition consists of jumps, jibs, rails, etc. It is judged on
a combination of technical merit, amplitude, and overall impression.
Half-pipe- This type of competition happens in the half-pipe. It is judged on a combination of technical
merit, amplitude, and overall impression.
Banked Slalom- This type of competition consists of a race against the clock down the SBX course. One
person rides on the course at a time. If you have never competed before, this is a great one to start out
with. This race prequalifies you for the SBX.
Snowboard Cross (SBX)- This type of competition consists of a race against three other people down the
SBX course. Top two finishers of each race advance to the next round
PLEASE NOTE:
Although competitions are not mandatory, we expect to see everyone participate in at least one event.
If you want to be part of the varsity team, you will definitely be joining us for competitions.
Equipment
You will need to bring your gear to school. Gear will be stored in a multipurpose room until you board the bus. HELMETS ARE REQUIRED. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO BOARD THE BUS WITHOUT ONE.
Fundraising
Fundraising is an important part of our team. All members are expected to participate in fundraising and fundraising events.
