We're dedicated to developing skilled, confident riders through structured training, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Our program emphasizes safety, progression, and a positive mountain experience for all athletes—whether they’re carving their first turns or training for competition.

Participation Requirements

Each member of the Canby High School Snowboard Team must be passing 4 classes to maintain eligibility. Also, remember that your grades from this spring term determine eligibility for next fall term. Students must also have a physical exam completed to be on the snowboard team.

Team Fees

$500— This fee includes transportation, Three Rivers League dues, OISA dues, uniforms, team functions, and any other costs that are incurred during the 25/26 season. You will also need to pay the $150 ASB Fee to the school. Each team member will need to purchase an All-Access Mt Hood Meadows Season Pass.

Varsity Letters

Every student has the possibility to earn a Varsity Letter. There are just a few simple requirements:

• Attend at least 75% of practices

• Participate in 75% of competitions

• Maintain a good attitude

• Follow the rules of the team

• Exceptions may be made for seniors and riders who go above and beyond for the team.

Practice

Practices are held at Mt Hood Meadows and will typically be on Thursday evenings unless otherwise stated. The bus will be departing for the mountain directly after school. Each member of the Canby snowboard team is required to follow school rules while practicing. Also, students are required to maintain good sportsmanship and a positive attitude. Training will occur on different terrain depending on what facilities look best and what our next competition is.

Competitions

Competitions are primarily held on weekends. Team members will compete in four different disciplines:

Slopestyle- This type of competition consists of jumps, jibs, rails, etc. It is judged on

a combination of technical merit, amplitude, and overall impression.

Half-pipe- This type of competition happens in the half-pipe. It is judged on a combination of technical

merit, amplitude, and overall impression.

Banked Slalom- This type of competition consists of a race against the clock down the SBX course. One

person rides on the course at a time. If you have never competed before, this is a great one to start out

with. This race prequalifies you for the SBX.

Snowboard Cross (SBX)- This type of competition consists of a race against three other people down the

SBX course. Top two finishers of each race advance to the next round

PLEASE NOTE:

Although competitions are not mandatory, we expect to see everyone participate in at least one event.

If you want to be part of the varsity team, you will definitely be joining us for competitions.

Equipment

You will need to bring your gear to school. Gear will be stored in a multipurpose room until you board the bus. HELMETS ARE REQUIRED. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO BOARD THE BUS WITHOUT ONE.

Fundraising

Fundraising is an important part of our team. All members are expected to participate in fundraising and fundraising events.
